State of Play is seeking one female and three male actors for roles in a theatre production to take place in February, 2018. The production is based on research about people who lived in Wimborne during 1914-18.
The project has been commissioned by Priest’s House Museum, Wimborne, as part of the museum’s The One Hundred Year Heritage of the First World War for Wimborne and East Dorset project, funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund.
The performance will take place in Wimborne with possible further performances in 2018, yet to be arranged.
We require
4 actors to play characters in 1917:
- 3 males to play characters with the following ages: 18 years; 30 years; 65 years
- 1 female to play a character about 25 years
We are looking for 4 actors who are strong, focused performers, able to deliver dramatic monologues and learn lines quickly. You will also be good at improvising on a theme, as some of the performance will involve spontaneous inter-action with the audience.
You’ll need to be interested in history and prepared to do some research on your character and their context, and be a good team player, prepared to try new ways of working.
For the audition you will need to prepare a short (1-2 minute) monologue of your choice as well as perform an extract from the script we send in advance. You won’t need to learn this by heart, though familiarity with it beforehand will help.
