Journey to Aslometh
A short extract from the film about the challenges for children of eating and enjoying hot healthy food.
The film features talented 7 year old children listening to a story told by Tony Horitz, discussing food issues and creating drama about Jo-Jo, a girl who goes on a magical journey to learn how to eat healthily. Colourful, bold and very funny!
Made for the Dorset Screenbites (Film and Food) Festival, with children from Kings Park Primary school, Bournemouth.

Help!
A short film featuring State of Play actors as friendly aliens whose computer story database has crashed in a time warp.
In a mixture of their own strange language and English, they broadcast a message, asking children to help them restore their story supply by filming and/or recording their own favourite stories – which can be linked to any topic, from Shakespeare to World War 2, to Jack and The Beanstalk!
Originally made for Hook with Warsash Primary School, near Hook, Portsmouth.
Space
The DISC Space Project
A film in the form of a Mantle of the Expert challenge. Scientists from a fictional space lab share amazing footage of planets and space travel before inviting the children to apply to take their own special journey into space. The film was designed with teachers to stimulate a cross phase classroom project lasting several weeks.

About Us and Where We Live
State of Play working with children of all ages, used drama, discussion and poetry to create an original documentary film, in which young people from an estate share their views on how they want their environment to be now and in the future.
The film has been used as a consultancy document by East Dorset District Council, as an example of how to listen to young people’s voices.
The Greatest Olympian of them All!
Forget Ussain Bolt and Bradley Wiggins, this film tells the story of the Classical Contender from Ancient Greece, Theagenes, whose extraordinary story of bravery and luck is revealed by children through drama, wrestling and shadow puppetry.
Both films made by State of Play for East Dorset District Council’s Heatherlands Activity Week, in partnership with Synergy Housing Association, Dorset Police and the Heatherlands Community Centre (2011 & 2012)
International Theatre and Film Projects
State of Play works with international partners to create focused, issue based theatre and films that give ownership to the participants and enable them to share matters of concern to the community at large.
Al Abrir La Llave (When you Turn on the Tap)
Commissioned by the Univerisity of Guadalajara, (CULagos), in Jalisco, Mexico, in 2008. It involved Tony Horitz devising an original play about local water pollution with Science Students from the university, for a public performance in the centre of the town of Lagos de Moreno, followed by a session of Forum Theatre.
Dan Horitz made accompanying film images, which were projected during the performance, as well as a documentary, which has been screened at Conferences in north and south Brazil, as well as in London.
The 20 minute documentary features extracts from rehearsals and performances, as well as interviews with participants.
